Plastic - and Card Modelling 

Hello model builders,

 

We made the quick decision to go to Wiener Neustadt on Saturday to get an overview of the MODEL CONSTRUCTION DAYS in the Arena Nova, which are taking place this weekend.

After a trouble-free journey we were able to enter the halls of the Arena Nova. Halls 1 and 3 were used for model making. We thought all four halls were occupied - but we must have mixed something up here.

​

Hall 1 was characterized by RC model construction and there were three large areas in this hall. The largest part was taken up by the RC trucks, which, according to the organiser, occupied 500 m2 in the hall. This area was divided into different topics and was impressive. So here's a really top attraction and  super presented.

There was also a course for E-RC cars, a trail course and an area where children could practice their driving skills. This was rounded off with various dealers.

Hall 3 - which was actually our area - was not so convincing. For the first time there was plastic model making at these model making days. IPMS Austria, IGM Plastikmodellbau and MBF Wiener Neustadt and the paper model makers from Styria were all represented. A remarkable success for the first time and more could not be expected.

 

Unfortunately, the model building dealers from this division announced on the homepage were not present.

 

Neither Modellbau Paul nor TOM Modellbau - which were announced on the website - were there. Here one should be more careful to be up to date and not to alienate the arriving model builders who, in addition to talking shop with model building colleagues, also want to buy one or the other model.

The model builder par excellence is also that he wants to buy one or the other model from dealers. Only Chris Figures Shop was present from the announced dealers. What do I do if I'm not a figure model maker?

Then in Hall 3 there was the stand of the 160 series railway model builders, various model railway dealers and one or two exhibitors with exotic models - such as ex. steam engines. These were well worth seeing and an enrichment in Hall 3!

Conclusion for us:   We hope that the topic of plastic model making will become more established after the IPMS Austria exhibition in the Arsenal unfortunately stopped for a few years. It would be nice if we could have an exhibition again in the east of Austria. As I said a few times - then we would have another exhibition in the West, in the South, in the East and in the North - PASST we don't need more in our small country!

There is still a lot of work ahead of the organizer to convince and possibly get this going. We hope so and wish you the best of luck!
